About the restaurant

MariVanna Baku is a restaurant with a special atmosphere. Here, time becomes irrelevant and every guest would have one’s own pleasant memories. It’s almost like a portal to the bright and kind past – the restaurant really looks like your grandmother’s home, where you would always be a welcomed guest. 

Cozy interiors, appetite-provoking flavors, numerous shelves with memorabilia which would make your heart melt. Porcelain statues, photographs, favorite books, amazing toys, old-fashioned lamps emitting soft light, table cloths and wall decorations, colorful cloths on peculiar-shaped ceiling lamps. And, most importantly – delicious and diverse home-styled food: cottage cheese “sirniki” with sour cream, “vareniki” dumplings with cherries with kaimac, honey and jam, boiled tongue with khachapuri. 

Here you can either have a light breakfast with an omelet, or enjoy a good dinner ordering, for example, a lamb knuckle with bulgur or slow-cooked beef ribs with mashed green peas. Whether during a summer heat or amid a frosty winter – you will always find something here to lift your spirits and make you feel better – like, for instance, cool home-made juice or lemonade or home-made brews. Also, a sweet, smart and kind cat called Valeron lives at MariVanna.

  • Cupboard

    Grandma’s stash of jam, pickled vegetables, cans of condensed milk – all kept inside a vintage cupboard, brought over from Belgium.

  • Fireplace lounge

    Separating yourself from the other half of the room with a curtain wall, you can immerse yourself into a home-like atmosphere and check out photographs on the walls.

  • Smoking lounge

    Glossy panels, big soft armchairs and tapestry themed after “Morning in a pine forest” – all that suggests that designers have been inspired by Stalin-era study rooms.

  • LIbrary

    Chandeliers above the table creates the image of an antique salon.

Vladimir was destined to become a chef – since the age of six he had been helping his grandmother to make dumplings at one of Kiev’s restaurants, where she worked as a chef. At 19 he started doing his favorite job professionaly – at River Palace Complex’s Le Jardine restaurant. At 22 he was employed as Chef at O’Briens Irish Pub.

In 2009 he opened his own restaurant in Kiev, three years later he also opened a bar in his hometown. Vladimir has worked with famous Chefs – Joel Robuchon, Bruno Goussault, Peter Bruscet and others. In 2008 he began his collaboration with Ginza Project – Vladimir took active role in opening MariVanna in St. Petersburg. Today, Vladimir Shulyak is a brand-Chef – and the main reason why MariVanna Baku has received gleaming reviews from its guests. “I have really enjoyed this wonderful southern city. I wanted to do something good for its residents. 

And the best thing a Chef can do – make good food!” – says Vladimir.
