About the restaurant

Christian Lorenzini opened his signature restaurant. He had dreamt of it since his childhood, when he started working at his father’s restaurant in Tuscany and longed for independence and freedom. The restaurant looks a lot like his owner. 

It is a strikingly informal place. With an open kitchen and an open soul. With the atmosphere devoid of any sophistication, “for friends”. With a real, amazingly traditional taste of Lorenzini’s native Tuscany. With designer cuisine, built on well-reserved home recipes of the Lorenzini family’s several generations – presented in an extravagant and amusing fashion.

The restaurant has a grand location. The Christian is located on the 1st floor of a residential building, which adjoins the left wing of the Ukraina Hotel. Monumental architecture of the skyscraper is a vivid contrast to the interiors and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Having walked in, you find yourself in a different country. Cozy, sweet, warm, but slightly ironic one too. 

Lights here are provided by 2-meter-tall lamps shaped like men with huge tricorn shades on top. Guests sit at tables with plates, forks and knives drawn on them. Dishes are served on ribbed irregular-shaped plates from thick ceramics. As if they were made by an amateur potter. Actually, this is exclusive handmade dining sets from Portugal. Glasses look like proper cups, with jolly flies sitting on them…

Even the most sophisticated guest will smile and loosen the tie, feel oneself in the company of friends. Or sit at the bar stand and ask Christian to cook a favorite meal. There’s nothing static or conserved here – the menu changes every week. And every guest can scribble one’s thoughts in it. Because it is written on a chalkboard and could be wiped out easily. You can also write your own dish ideas in the paper a la carte menu.

Italian cuisine made in Christian’s unique way, spiced up with a slight doze of humor and flavored with the Lorenzini family’s secret recipes, has proved to be intriguing, light and almost dietary

“At the Christian, I cook favorite dishes of my family and  friends! Artichoke pudding, avocado cake – just like my mom does – blown-up tartar or milk-soaked veal with herbs from Tuscany. And at breakfast you can treat yourself to fried cottage cheese on my loved one’s recipe. 

The menu is small, but we are constantly changing it, adding new dishes. But guests can also order their favorite dishes which are not on the menu – like goat steak or family-recipe goose. You just have to warn us one day ahead. I will personally go to a marketplace and choose the best product. 

I want every guest to become a friend of mine, join me at our open kitchen and cook their favorite meals”
